Northern Pathways Equine Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Equine-Assisted Learning to all who can benefit from it, regardless of their ability to pay.
We’re a small organization located in Kaleva, MI, in the “little finger” area of the mitten our state resembles. We provide equine-assisted learning activities to kids and adults through the different programs we offer. We’re located in Manistee County, and we serve the residents of Manistee and Benzie Counties.
We’re largely run by our team of dedicated volunteers. All our Board members and our Executive Director donate their time, as do the many other volunteers who have helped us over the years with program activities, farm management, and more.
Our size is one of our greatest virtues – because we’re small, we get to know all our clients, and we do our best to provide every person who comes here with the activity they need, be it grooming our horses, walking our trails, working in our gardens, or just talking about what’s happening in life.
Our Goals
We Build: Confidence, Self-acceptance & Character
We Improve: Communication, Self-control & Assertiveness
We Develop: Social, Academic, and Career Preparation Skills
We Provide: Emotional Enrichment in a Safe, Peaceful Environment
The benefits of equine-assisted learning and the related growth skills that participants experience have been well-documented. Our consumers find meaning in a natural environment that provides the space and time for growth, a healthy structured environment for change, and vast safe opportunities for self motivation and love.
